What is CareerAlly?
CareerAlly is a mobile app designed to assist job seekers in finding mentorship opportunities tailored to their career objectives. Our platform also facilitates job discovery, allowing users to apply for positions after their mentors have equipped them for success. Our goal is to create a streamlined and effective approach for individuals to achieve their career and professional aspirations.

Problem
Job seekers require reliable resources and customized mentorship to navigate their career journey effectively and prepare for the future.
Presently, job seekers often face the challenge of navigating various platforms to find mentors and job openings, resulting in fragmented and inefficient job searches. Our aim is to simplify this process by providing a unified platform, enabling job seekers to efficiently access mentorship and job opportunities, regardless of their skillset, schedule, or background.
What hinders job seekers from finding mentors & learning resources?
In order to gain insights into the barriers faced by job seekers in accessing mentors and learning resources, we conducted thorough research encompassing background analysis, surveys, and interviews. Our study involved 15 survey respondents and 5 interview participants. It revealed that a significant number of them expressed a keen interest in seeking mentorship and additional learning opportunities. However, they often felt disheartened and close to giving up due to the challenges obstructing their path to finding the right mentors and resources.

To gain insights into the experiences of job seekers similar to Emma, we've created a storyboard that visualizes their journey step by step. This allows us to uncover the challenges and pain points along the way. It's eye-opening to witness how the decision-making process can become daunting for these job seekers.

We've designed a mobile app for on-the-go job seekers, offering an easy path to finding mentors tailored to their preferences. With vital information and filters for job type and mentor gender, users can efficiently match with mentors. Our additional features ensure that job seekers feel supported throughout their journey and maintain confidence in avoiding scams.

Mentor Selection - In one path, you can first choose a job type and apply for relevant job listings. Then, you can select a mentor who will assist you in preparing for the applied jobs. In the alternative path, you can directly choose a mentor who will guide you comprehensively, from the initial stages to job applications.

Conducting Evaluations with job seekers
We engaged a total of eight participants, employing two distinct methods: observational sessions and interviews. We identified and coded three significant issues that emerged from the usability test.
